Princess Diana

If you’re talking iconic outfits, no matter the category, it’s almost guaranteed that Princess Diana’s wedding dress is going to be mentioned. Puffy sleeves, princess skirt, and a train longer than anything you could imagine—it could barely fit in the coach! An iconic moment in fashion history. The late and great ‘People’s Princess’ gown now resides in Kensington Palace, on display for fans to see.

With a veil reaching 140m, embroidered details, and 10,000 pearls, there’s no wonder the dress is still talked about decades later. This piece of fashion history set the standard for bridal style and created waves worldwide. Diana hand-picked her designers to create the statement dress that would make the dramatic impression she was looking for—mission accomplished.

Celine Dion

For her 1994 wedding to the late René Angelil, who passed in 2016, Celine wore a memorable piece designed by Mirella and Steve Gentile. Looking this beautiful comes with a cost! The lace gown covered in crystals with a 6-metre train must have been extremely heavy, with 2000 Swarovski crystals in the headdress alone, weighing over 3kgs.

The beautiful gown has cemented Celine as a style icon; a detailed bodice and one of the biggest princess skirts we’ve ever seen! The long-lasting love between the working pair is reflected in their wedding photos, with Celine looking like a shining star in her unique dress.

Solange

Solange has never been one to put herself into a box, and that extends to her wedding fashion too. Solange and Alan Ferguson jumped on a bike for their wedding pictures, with the bride rocking a modern and empowering take on the classic wedding dress. With an off the shoulder cape and plunging neckline, the bodice looks as classic as any wedding dress, but as you move your eyes down the elegant looks, you see the statement soon enough—pants!

This chic jumpsuit breaks wedding norms, and if there’s anybody perfect for the job, it’s Solange. The married pair took some incredibly beautiful and unique shots, riding a bike with a bouquet sitting in the front basket. This is a wedding look we won’t soon forget.

Paris Hilton

The wedding we’ve all been waiting for. Fashion icon, nightlife legend, and “famous for being famous” Paris Hilton has created a global empire, and now the pop culture princess has found her Prince Charming, Carter Reum.

The dress itself was designed by Oscar de la Renta, and of course, the Princess herself would go for a princess-inspired gown. The dress featured beautiful pressed floral lacework on the bodice, dispersing down the gorgeous tulle ball skirt, with matching lace at the bottom of the long veil. The gown’s gorgeous embroidery covers its long sleeves, right up to the neck.

This gorgeous dress—one of 11 the heiress wore—is what she wore down the aisle, looking like an elegant, classic Disney Princess, with that ‘Paris’ twist.

Serena Williams

From global sports phenomenon to red-carpet favourite, Serena Williams has built a reputation for bringing the looks—so we were all on the edge of our seats waiting to see the wedding dress in 2017, and she delivered!

Rather than a veil, the Tennis champion rocked a beautiful sheer cape over her shoulders, while the dress had a simple, strapless bodice, belted waist, and a tulle skirt that could be compared to a cloud. The cape blends seamlessly into the dress to create a layered element, while her hair remained in a simple, chic, slicked-back bun.

With a guest list featuring names like Anna Wintour and Beyonce, it’s no wonder she dressed to impress, taking centre stage in a room full of stars. Alexis Ohanian’s jaw must’ve dropped to the floor when he saw her coming down the aisle, and the beautiful princess silhouette still has us buzzing years later!

Grace Kelly

With 300 yards of lace, 150 yards of silk, taffeta, and tulle, and approximately 30 seamstresses, we’re not surprised that this dress is talked about more than half a century later. The original royal wedding spectacle, the iconic dress worn by Grace Kelly at her wedding to Prince Rainer III, designed by Helen Rose, truly set the standard for the royal wedding dress.

From the beautiful lace bodice to the perfectly placed veil, right down to the pearl-encrusted prayer book in her hand—Grace Kelly’s entire ensemble was destined for the fashion history books.

The famous dress has inspired many since, including Kate Middleton herself. The dress is now owned by the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and was on display in 2006, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the ceremony, titled ‘Fit for a Princess: Grace Kelly's Wedding Dress’.

Hailey Baldwin

There was no doubt that Hailey Baldwin would bring an immaculate dress to her wedding with Justin Bieber, and she didn’t disappoint, wearing a beautiful, off-the-shoulder, long-sleeved lace gown. The dress was all about the details, with incredible lace flowers from top-to-bottom, with the veil lined by beautiful lace. The statement piece of this Virgil Abloh dress is the “Till Death Do Us Part” stitched into the hem of the dramatically long veil.

All the details in this modern twist on a timeless classic are admirable; the tulle skirt flows beautifully off her body, with the statement veil making for an extremely memorable wedding photo.

Ellie Goulding

In 2019 the British singer married Caspar Jopling in a Victorian-style Chloé silk dress. This beautiful dress covered the celebrity bride from head to toe, with a timeless frilled collar around her neck, beautiful details down the sleeves, and a classic-style wedding gown skirt.

Much of the intense detail went into creating Goulding’s perfect veil, the lace design including a ‘C’ & ‘E’ for the couple’s initials, as well as the Yorkshire Rose. Looking for a modern twist on a traditional bridal style, Ellie Goulding created a jaw-dropping gown that delivers elegance from top-to-bottom.

Whitney Houston

The late, great Whitney Houston will forever go down as a legend, and what better way to remember her legacy than with her incredible high-necked, floor-length wedding dress, designed by Marc Bouwer.

The silk veil hit the floor, but the true showstopper was the matching beaded and sequined cloche hat that tied the look together. Husband Bobby Brown wore a matching ivory suit to complement Houston’s gown.

The beautiful beading and sequin details bought some iridescence to the dress, creating a truly sparkling bride; a sight 800 guests were lucky enough to see in real life. The iconic four-piece dress was auctioned off in 2016 as part of her heritage collection.

Priyanka Chopra

What better way to close off this list than the insanely-gorgeous Ralph Lauren dress—worth an estimated $2 million—Priyanka Chopra wore at her wedding to Nick Jonas in 2018. The mesh fit-n-flare style gown showed off her body, and the incredible 75-foot veil and embroidery work together took over 1800 hours to complete.

The lace included sentimental details hand-stitched into the dress from names to wedding dates, and even incorporated some lace from Chopra’s mother’s wedding gown. From the original sketch to the enormous ceremony, this dress was destined to be one of the most beautiful gowns we’ve laid our eyes on.
